As part of a graduate study research prompt, I was given the following challenge: Develop, design and execute an object-oriented system with a chosen context in mind.

Construct a "kit of parts" system utilizing sets of basic forms — a circle and square — to create an identity system that was modular in nature. Each mark could consist of a triadic combination of circles, squares or both — either solid or outlined — to form a mark. This mark would then be applied as an identity for a city. Extend the concept to develop a traditional set of materials: stationery, website, ads, etc. The significance would live within each mark, its relationship to the chosen city and its ties to semiotics.
In creating my system, I arbitrarily assigned meaning to the singular forms. This meaning represents my experience with the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee and what I believe are the most notable qualities that make Chattanooga a destination - wether that be its eclectic inner culture or its plethora of outdoor activities.
